MINDFULNESS
The goal of meditation & mindfulness is not to become a different person, a new person, or even a better person. It’s about training in awareness & getting a healthy sense of perspective. You’re not trying to turn off your thoughts or feelings. You will learn to observe them without judgment. When we are more mindful through meditation, we instill significant and long-lasting benefits into our lives. We lower our stress levels, we get to know our pain, we connect better, we improve our focus, & we’re kinder to ourselves. While these practices aren’t a quick fix or a miracle cure, they can provide some much-needed space in your life. Often, that’s all we need to make better choices for ourselves, our families, & our communities. We believe the most important tools you can bring with you to your practice are a bit of patience, some kindness for yourself, & a comfortable place to sit.
Yoga Nidra, known as “yogic sleep” or “effortless relaxation” is a meditation & conscious relaxation practice that is intended to induce total physical, mental, & emotional relaxation. It’s usually practiced lying down with a teacher guiding the session. Yoga Nidra often brings immediate physical benefits, such as reduced stress & better sleep, & it has the potential to heal psychological wounds. As a meditation practice, it can engender a profound sense of joy & well-being.
I also employ Reiki which is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that involves a practitioner using gentle touch or hands-off techniques to channel energy, promoting relaxation and encouraging the body's natural healing abilities. The practice aims to balance energy flow and relieve stress, potentially leading to greater relaxation and well-being.
